Jury Awards $4.95 Million Verdict In Truck Injury Case At Georgia Port

March 2026

After a 4-day trial, a Chatham County jury returned a $4.95 million verdict following a trucking crash at the Port of Savannah.

The case involves a crash from May 2019, where Purcell Albright, Sr, a longshoreman working at the Port of Savannah, was driving a jockey truck supplied and manufactured by Terminal Investment Corporation, also known as TICO.

When Mr. Albright attempted to make a turn, the cab was not latched properly, it raised, and Mr. Albright lost control, unable to correct course. The crash caused Mr. Albright to be ejected from the truck, and he was seriously injured as a result.

The impact of the crash broke portions of his neck and one of his shoulder blades, creating a long road to recovery ahead. His injuries caused hardship within his family and personal life, greatly impacting his wife, Patricia, who has been by his side the whole time.

A Chatham County jury ultimately found TICO responsible for the malfunction of the jockey truck and the impacts Mr. Albright’s injuries have had on his personal life.

The trial attorneys for the Albrights were Zachary Sprouse and Tania Groover
