A jury in Savannah awarded $4.475 million to the widow of a man who died at a Reidsville hospital the night after undergoing spinal fusion surgery. The case stemmed from a tragic incident in which the patient, a husband and father, underwent spinal fusion surgery at the Reidsville hospital. Though the procedure itself was completed without immediate complications, his condition deteriorated over the following hours. According to the plaintiff’s case, the hospital and medical team failed to properly monitor and respond to critical warning signs in the postoperative period. Despite clear indicators of distress, no timely interventions were made—leading to the patient’s unexpected and preventable death overnight.
